Ability Series

2009 MWSA Slalom Ability Based Series

Our MWSA slalom ability series will continue again this year. Last year there was much excitement in the different ability groups chasing down the top honors that weren't decided until the last stop. This year skiers again will have a chance to ski and compete on the waters of Michigan's pristine ski locations. This year there will be multiple tournaments to win medals and accumulate points awarded in the 16 different ability groups. The more tournaments you ski in, the more points you acheive and the better your chances for a top 5 finish in one of the 3 groups. Plus, this year, our skiers will have a chance to be ranked in the USA Water Ski Grassroots slalom program appearing on their online site.

Scoring: Placement in one of the 16 ability level groups will be based on USA Water Ski buoy average, last years performances, or the first tournament of participation. All skiers will receive 1 point for being in a tournament no matter what their performance, and up to 3 more for where they place in their division. The better of the first two rounds will be used to score. Points will accumulate through out the season and be recorded on MWSA website for observation. A bonus point will be awarded for skiing at all of the sites and another one for a skier who skis in half or more of the total tournaments. Skiers final placing in the top five in each of the 3 Groups will be presented one of the 15 very distinguished trophies.

Groups: The following represents the 3 Groups and 16 Divisions all skiers will be placed in. Skiers will move up in divisions when they perform at the next level but a sub-par performance does not move them down unless it is over the entire season.

Here are the divisions for this series:
